Besides Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Feest.je, Foursquare and our own website www.cafetmandje.nl this blog will be yet another source of information about our famous little bar.
On the above social media we'll also be posting promotions: secret passwords for free drink, quiz about the bar's history, etc.

Visibly Pink Princess 2011

Café 't Mandje - Bet van Beeren is a small bar and our voice may be tiny, still we think it is important to let the world know our views on LGBT-issues. The history of our bar and Bet van Beeren command our statement on these matters. By organising several events during GayPride & Pink Christmas during the short 3 years since our re-opening we have drawn attention to elderly gays sentenced to a life back in the closet, to decoy gays being deployed by the police (what is a gay decoy? Stereotypes), to what makes Amsterdam Gay Capital again, etc.
This Pink Christmas we organised the Pink Christmas Visibly Pink Princess Election. Lesbians still experience discrimination and are not as visible as the male gay community. So: time for a change.

Even though the winter weather kept a lot of women at home apparently and we only had half a jury due to the flue: we have a winner:

Ruth Dorca is the Visibly Pink Princess 2010.

As Chairwoman of the Jury Vera Bergkamp said: Ruth in singing about her love and emotions, about being gay and being accepted. She has a great voice. Ruth: "I want to sing my songs as much as possible, to make people listen to my story and ideas."
